Barcelona Craft Beer Bars - UPDATED!

I’ve been wanting to give an update to all the Craft Beer bars in Barcelona that I wrote up about when I visited in 2019… so without further adieu… here it is!

Before we dive in… I do have to address the elephant in the foeder tank.  The Pandemic has certainly changed things and for some of the places I visited back in 2019… not always for the best. Reduced staffing and in some cases… reduced quality has been the result. I really feel for these places and I tried to stay neutral when I was visiting but sometimes you have to admit the reality. This Pandemic has been really terrible and I can only hope that these places can bounce back. NOW… here it is!

Beer’linale - Carrer del Carme, 7, 08001 Barcelona, Spain

Back in 2019… this place BLEW my mind. It had a ton of amazing Craft Beer on and was just overall impressive. Sadly… when I re-visited it a few months ago… it was not exactly how I remembered it. I will admit I did go during a completely different season but they only had 18 beers on out of the 30 taps that they usually have full of awesome draft selections. There was a noticeable lack of staffing but I do feel like this place will absolutely bounce back. It is very close to tourist traffic and I still love the place even though it was sad to see it in this state.

Garage Beer - C. del Consell de Cent, 261, 08011 Barcelona, Spain

This place rocks and was very busy like I remembered it! I was extremely happy to see that this Craft Beer bar has held up extremely well since I last visited them in 2019. This place is also very close to the next place on my list which I think has something to do with them still kicking ass. It is always nice to have multiple great beer bars within a block or so. People just naturally bounce back and forth between places when they are close and thus helps generates business for both places!

BierCab - Carrer de Muntaner, 55, 08011 Barcelona, Spain

This was one of the rare places I visited that actually got BETTER than when I went there back in 2019. I think the key thing here is… this place is always busy and you had better find a good seat because otherwise… you might not have the best time. Fortunately for me I was able to find a spot at the bar fairly quickly and the rest of the night was just the best. Met several brewers that had beers on draft that night and got to chat them up! Excellent food and excellent beer. The only thing I will knock them a small point off for was… their bottle fridge was out of commission and so I wasn’t able to order any Cantillon. The thing you have to know is that RIGHT NEXT DOOR is BierCab’s bottle shop that has Cantillon up the wazoo and it is refrigerated. So… now you see the source of my frustration. Other than that small hiccup… I can’t sing its praises higher.

Brewdog Barcelona - Carrer de Casanova, 69, 08011 Barcelona, Spain

This is also in the same area as BierCab and Garage Beer… so it is very easy to hit. There has been a lot of bad news coming out of Brewdog these days but I still wanted to visit to give it a chance. I will say that they have excellent burgers and their beer is not too shabby.

Mikkeller Barcelona - C/ de València, 202, 08011 Barcelona, Spain

To tell you I was excited about going here for the first time… would be an understatement. Visiting this place though… was extremely disappointing. It is woefully understaffed and if there was just a bit more love for the place there… this place has everything else it needs to really shine.

Craft Barcelona - Carrer del Paradís, 4, 08002 Barcelona, Spain

If you want to hear some excellent live music and have some Craft Beer? This place rocks. Their selection is not vast but I will say that it is good enough especially considering the amazing live music that they have going on downstairs. It is right smack dab in the Gothic Quarter and I love going here every time I visit Barcelona.

Kælderkold Craft Beer - Carrer del Cardenal Casañas, 7, 08002 Barcelona, Spain

This was my first time visiting this establishment and I had an absolute blast here. I had been walking the city on my last full day for a good 5 hours or so and my dogs were barking. I figured the best place to rest would be a Craft Beer Bar and this is near the waterfront but still in Gothic and is just a prime location. It is a narrow bar but with 17 taps or so… their selection is amazing. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Lambicus - Carrer de Tamarit, 107, 08015 Barcelona, Spain

This place was gold back in 2019 and has stayed gold when I visited late 2021. If you are a fan of Lambics, Sours and Belgian beers? This place will make you extremely happy. An insanely robust bottle list that will leave you in tears because you can only get so much… this place may be my favorite bar in Barcelona.

Cerveseria La Més Petita - Carrer de la Diputació, 30, 08015 Barcelona, Spain

I was hanging out with a friend from Scotland when we happened to come across this place and boy am I glad we did. This is one of those very special rare hole in the wall places that has a heart of gold. This place is tiny. Do not let that dissuade you though because it makes all that up in ambience. I am very glad we stopped here for a couple of pints because I had an absolutely amazing time and wish there were more places like this out there in the world.

Notable Exclusion:

○ Ale&Hop - Carrer de les Basses de Sant Pere, 10, 08003 Barcelona, Spain

I visited this place when I first visited Barcelona but due to irregular hours which I can only assume was due to the Pandemic… I wasn’t able to check them out on this last visit. You should definitely though! It is a local’s Craft Beer bar in all the best ways.

I hope you enjoy and I very much hope you get to make it to some of these amazing places.

Salud!
